A 33-year-old Sergeant Major with the Japan Ground Self Defense Force base at Camp Naha has been arrested on violence charges after assaulting a woman.

Kazuhiro Fujita is denying the charges, saying he did not take violent actions against the woman.  Itoman Police say Fujita grabbed a 26-year-old part-time worker and shook her shoulder.  Police say they believe Fujita fist grabbed the lady by her two wrists and then shook her shoulder.

The incident took place at a convenience store in Itoman City’s Nishizaki district about 4:40 a.m. Friday.  Fujita is a total stranger to the woman, police say.  Itoman Police say alcohol was detected on Fujita’s breath.
