Large hotel slated for former Ginbaru Training Area land

A Malaysian company has made it official; it will build a 200 room five-star hotel in Kin, on the land that’s been part of the U.S. Forces Ginbaru Training area.

The project on 60 hectares of land will begin next year by Dejaya Development of Malaysia.   During an announcement at Kin City Hall, officials say the new hotel, along with a condominium building and a large commercial facility promoting Kin Town’s local agricultural and marine product sales, will take up about 16 acres of the former training area.  The hotel should open in 2015.

The development marks the first time for Dejaya Development to create a project outside Malaysia.  Dejaya Development CEO Tan Chee Sing says “we re really glad to develop Kin Town with you, to achieve our shared purpose of making Kin Town a world-renowned tourist destination.”

Kin Mayor Tsuyoshi Gibo was elated expressing hope that the project will give a boost to the town’s stagnating economic fortunes. “I see this agreement as a major step towards revitalizing the town. I’m especially hopeful that this will increase employment opportunities to our young people, and create them hope for a bright future.”
