Botanical garden encourages back-to-nature visits
Peace and tranquility, walks along pathways through woods filled with plants, flowers, birds and insects, are all in the spotlight through February 11th at the Bios on the Hill natural botanical garden in Uruma City.
Although not really a theme, the Bios Hill mantra is all Okinawan nature of mountains, beautiful orchids and even a trip around a lake on a boat to enjoy nature fully. The jungle cruises along the one-kilometer lake takes about 25 minutes, while a captain explains lakeside plants, flowers and small animals.
The event is taking place as part of the 2013 Okinawa Flower Carnival taking place at
various locations across Okinawa Prefecture through early May. Visitors enjoy displays of orchids inside the garden, and can rest in the open spaces.
Admission is ¥690 for adults and ¥390 for children under elementary school age. Bios Hill is located at 961-30 Ishikawa Kadekaru in Uruma City. The botanical garden is open daily 9 a.m. ~ 6 p.m.
