Uruma City’s the venue Sunday for a flea market that is totally based on the concepts of ecology and recycling.

Besides offering people a venue to get rid of their unwanted stuff, Sunday’s Ishikawa flea Market aims to increase people’s civic consciousness.

The 8 a.m. ~ 1 p.m. flea market in the MaxValu Ishikawa Store parking lot, helps educate people about garbage and how recycling has a big influence on the global environment. It encourages changes in thinking about consumption of resources and energy, and how to control garbage.

The focus is on recycling of resources in all stages, from production to circulation, consumption and also disposal of useless articles.  In a nutshell, organizers want to promote and raise civic consciousness.

The flea market teaches how many articles – from daily use to rich antiques — will be sold at the flea market, adding that it is fun, too.  Family members, young couples and singles are encouraged to come, even if they don’t necessarily want to buy something.  Admission is free, and food and drinks are being sold at reasonable prices.
