Romance and spring are both in the air, and the Okinawa Prefectural Museum & Art Museum wants to make everyone happy with a Love Song Concert Saturday.

The Okinawa Prefectural Museum & Art Museum’s third floor foyer will be the venue for the three free performances at 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Saturday.  In this concert, the music has a connection to Marie Antoinette, who’s own exhibition is going on this month at the museum.  Songs she loved will be performed by a string music player who’s active in Okinawa’s music scene.

Mozart’s First Movement from ‘Eine kleine Nachtmusik’ will be first, followed by Haydn’s ‘Romance’ from the Symphony No. 85.  A “Love Song: composed by Marie Antoinette will round out the half-hour free programs.  All visitors should be aware all seats serve as seeing/standing.

Saturday’s Love Song Concert features a string ensemble including (from top) Yuki Adake, Yuki Awane, Ritsuko Chinen, Erina Yoshigawa and ken Kawasaki.

At contents, a string quartet and love songs will be performed.  Few people know of Marie Antoinette’s compositions, or that Mozart proposed to her.  It’s said she was taught music by Christoph Willibald Gluck, a famous opera composer, and played the harp and harpsichord.  During family musical evenings, she would sing French songs and Italian arias.  Marie Antoinette also excelled at dancing, having been carefully trained since young age.  After becoming queen, she often sneaked into l’Opéra to enjoy ball parties.
