Fiber Art craftsmen exhibiting at Ryubo

Artwork using various fiber materials are on display on the 7th floor of Ryubo.

Eight Okinawa artisans who specialize in using fiber materials are now showing off their handicrafts at an Exhibition in the art salon on the seventh floor of Ryubo Department Store in Naha.

The exhibition runs through next Monday from 10:30 a.m. ~ 8:30 p.m.  Admission is free.  The craftsmen have built the exhibition on the theme of “another life” in which it demonstrates how certain fiber materials influence peoples’ lives.  Included in the exhibition are works made of thread, paper, cloth and bamboo.

Indoor items, such as dyeing cloth of natural materials, China glass, paper milling and bamboo modeling work are at the exhibition.  Also shown are the process of making Kariyushi, Okinawan Aloha shirts and the dresses using dyeing cloth.  Some items are available for sale.
