The Motobu Handmade Market takes place every 3rd Sunday of the month in Motobu Town’s public market area.

The 77th Motobu Handmade Market is coming up Sunday, rain or shine.

The free marketplace takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Motobu Municipal Market, in Motobu Town.

Offerings include traditional handicrafts, pots and plants, and also lunch boxes cooked by local grandmothers in a traditional way.

“Motobu handmade market” is held in Motobu, in Okinawa’s area usually known as Yanbaru, which is in the northern part of Okinawa, every 3rd Sunday. Right now the venue is still decorated with about 60 bonito streamers hung up for the Children’s Day. Usually, Japanese hang up carp streamers for the Children’s Day, so these bonito streamers are very rare to see.

Exhibition sales are brought together with the keyword “handmade” from various genres attracting the attention. The hall will be filled with Okinawan unique handmade items and accessories of the Okinawan taste, fresh vegetables and lunch boxes made by Okinawan grandmothers, and a portable cafe.
