Fireflies have appeared at the Kijyoka district of Ogimi Village marking the start of the rainy season in Okinawa.

In the northern part of Okinawa, first fireflies were observed in a forest about 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. on May 18. Fireflies appearance always coincides with the start of the annual rainy season, and they can be seen until the end of June, although the weather has much influence on their appearance.
