The best of laquerware from Okinawa and other East and Southeast Asian countries is on exhibit at Urasoe City Art Museum.

A Lacquer Culture Exhibition — A Connection and spread of the culture of URUSHI lacquer exhibition – is well in progress at the Urasoe City Art Museum.

The exhibition runs through Sunday, August 25^th, with doors open daily, except Mondays, 9:30 a.m. ~ 5 p.m., except on Fridays when entrance is permitted to 6:30 p.m. and the museum is open until 7 p.m.  Admission to the exhibition is ¥150 for adults and  ¥100 for college students.  High school, junior high school and elementary school students are admitted free to this permanent exhibition.

The regional history, life scenery, etc. are in sight from the lacquer ware of the countries of East Asia and Southeast Asia. In this permanent exhibition, culture of the Japanese lacquer of Ryukyu, cherished in relation with a foreign country, regional lacquer cultures colored rich which spreads in various places, their comparisons, etc. are analyzed fully.
