Actor Shin Koyamada to meet fans Friday evening

Actor Shin Koyamada (middle) will hold a meet & greet at Mihama tonight.

Hollywood actor Shin Koyamada is again in Okinawa promoting his foundation, and will be meeting with fans at Mihama American Village Friday evening.

The star of the movie The Last Samurai, Koyamada, together with the acting twin brothers, the Sprouse Brothers, will be available for photographs and autographs from 6:45 p.m. ~ 8:15 p.m. in front of Carnival Park, where there will also be a belly dance show at 6:45 p.m. and a Japanese drum session at 7 p.m. Admission is free.

Koyamada and the Sprouse Brothers are making the rounds on The US-Japan Discovery Tour project, a 10-day educational program hosted by the Shin Koyamada Foundation (SKF) and SKF Japan. The tour’s purpose is to inspire and motivate Japanese youth to study English, to encourage them to study abroad at U.S. colleges and universities as well as to promote cross-cultural exchanges and strengthen friendship between the next generation of Japanese and Americans.

The last stop on the US-Japan Discovery Tour is Okinawa, where the Welcome Party takes place in American Village. This event is free and visitors can get their autographs and take pictures with them.

The 31-year-old Koyamada is an entrepreneur and martial artist, as well as actor. He co-starred as “Nobutada” opposite Tom Cruise in the Warner Bros. action epic film The Last Samurai, with a worldwide box office of $456 million. Koyamada has also starred in the Disney Channel action original movie Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior, which had over 5.7 million viewers at its premiere, making Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior the fifth highest viewed DCOM. Koyamada has produced and starred in the film Good Soil and executive produced Wine Road of the Samurai. Koyamada was designed to be the main character of the American comic book The Dreamhoppers, which has been published nationwide in the United States.

Koyamada owns Shinca Corporation and runs an American production company Shinca Entertainment. Koyamada often volunteers various philanthropic works in The Shin Koyamada Foundation. He also served as the International Goodwill Ambassador of Government of Okayama Prefecture and Kyoto City, Japan in February 2010.

Koyamada moved from Japan to the United States in June 2000, and now lives in Los Angeles. He holds high-ranked Black Belts in martial arts.
