17-year-old arrested on suspicion of hit and run
Okinawa City Police arrested a 17-year-old male high school student from Okinawa City, Aug. 29, on suspicion of a hit-and-run that occurred on Aug. 27.
According to Okinawa Police, the boy has admitted to the charge, and said he rode the motorcycle even though he doesn’t have a driver’s license, and hit the 84-year-old man crossing the road in the Ageda district of Okinawa City. He said that he ran away because he became scared.
The old man hit his head on the road after being hit by the motorcycle, and suffered a skull fracture. He remains unconscious in a hospital.
The boy is licensed to ride a 50cc motorcycle, but he was riding a 125cc motorcycle and rode with a girl on the back seat at the time of the accident. A resident who saw the accident after hearing a sound of crash called the police.
