FC Ryukyu accepted to professional soccer J League
FC Ryukyu, a local team that has until now played in the Japan Football League (JFL) announced Sep. 13 that they were accepted into the third division of the J League (Japan Pro Soccer League). The team applied for the first time five years ago, and now the third time proved to be the charm and they were accepted.
Okinawa Governor Hirokazu Nakaima said, “This is something all citizens of the prefecture were wishing for. ”
A spokesman for the company that operates FC Ryukyu stated, “Thanks to all who did not lose hope, this became true. We now have even a bigger responsibility to our fans.”
