Nakijin combines three festivals into one
There’s no shortage of excitement coming up this weekend as Nakijin Village stages its 4th annual Nakijin Festival, an all-in-one event that combines three different styles of action.
The free festival opens at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Nakijin Community Center, the Village Hall and at the Nakijin Village Bullfighting Ring, as organizers combine a Village Festival, Culture Festival and Fitness Festival into a single event. Saturay’s activities, which run until 9 p.m., include an afternoon stage filled with singing and dancing, another multi-music stage at 6 p.m., and the Imajin Taiko Drums at 7:40 p.m. No festival’s complete without fireworks, and they begin launching at 8:10 p.m. The evening finale at 8:30 p.m. features Shuto Iha performing live.
The Village Bullfighting Ring is where all the action is Sunday afternoon, beginning at 1 p.m. Elsewhere at the Community Center, there’s a Kids three-wheeled cycles tournament, followed by a Kids-grab fishing tournament. Karaoke wafts through the air with a competition beginning at 6:50 p.m., leading up to Diamantes on stage at 8:20 p.m.
