Okinawa may cool a bit in October but MCCS festival season is still going on strong with Kinser Festival. This year’s festival is scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 10 p.m. on both days on Camp Kinser. And as usual, there will be a variety of booths featuring cultural foods, games, Kiddie Land, giveaways for the kids, sporting events and live entertainment.

Festival goers can be prepared to experience everything that makes a festival an event worth visiting with free top-notch entertainment acts, game booths, amusement rides, Kiddie Land for the children and good eats. There will be local favorites such as funnel cake, yakitori, yakisoba and MCCS originals including Jumbo Turkey Legs, Happy Burgers, freshly-baked Mamma Mia’s Pizza as well as Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs.

Athletes can test their skills at the Open Corn Hole Competition and the Open 3-Point Challenge. Those interested in participating can register by 1 p.m. by Oct. 18 at the Kinser Fitness Center.

Smash Mouth headlines the entertainment lineup.

Kinser Festival will feature live entertainment on both days. Headlining the event is triple platinum selling rock band Smash Mouth, known for their number one hits “Walkin’ on the Sun” and “All Star.” They will be performing at 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 19. Other bands featured will be Swedish jazz fusion band SUBFIVE, and local salsa band Kachimba 1551, variety band Club Apache Band and others.

Admission to the Kinser Fest is free and open to all SOFA status personnel and local nationals. No pets, outside alcohol, bottles, coolers or large backpacks are allowed.
