Chatan Village’s held its mayoral election, Nov. 17^th.

The incumbent, 68-year-old Masaharu Noguni, who ran as an independent but was backed by progressive groups beat his challenger 34-year-old Masashi Toguchi who had the backing of the Liberal Democratic Party.

In the ballot, Noguni received 7,359 votes against Toguchi’s 2,873.
