Sounds of saxophones fill Yomitan Culture Center Sunday

100 saxophone players join forces for the grand finale of Sunday’s Yomitan Saxophone Festival.

Friends of saxophone music will be in heaven this Sunday as the 4th Saxophone Festival takes place in Yomitan Culture Center Ohtori Hall.

The highlight of the festival is world famous saxophonist Nobuya Sugawa who will join the event for the first time. Music advisor Masato Kumoi who has been the driving force behind the annual event from it’s beginning is a part of the festival also this year.

Players fro all over Japan are taking part in the festival playing saxophone music of various genres. The main event of the festival is a four-hour concert, in which 100 saxophone players will join forces under the direction of Sugawa for the grand finale of the festival.

The festival starts at 2 p.m. at continues until 6 p.m. Admission is free as is parking that is available on the large parking lot of the culture center. Yomitan Culture Center is located on the north side of the old Yomitan airfield that is located on the hill straight across from Torii Station main gate.
