Charity concert to benefit Philippines typhoon victims
On Nov. 8, 2013, typhoon Yolanda hit Bangon in the Philippines killing about 8,000 people, many of whom are still missing, and over 1,200 were injured and left without homes. More than half of the victims are children.
Rescue and recovery operations are still going on, and many international organizations are giving their help. Ginowan City Culture Association and Okinawa Board of Education Life-long Learning Division are jointly sponsoring a charity concert this Sunday at Ginowan Civic Hall for the benefit of the Bangon reconstruction.
The charity concert features Ginowan Blenders Orchestra, well-known jazz singer Kumiko Yonaha with Shoei Uehara Quartet, Johnny Ginowan and WAL WALE band, and Kachimba 1551 playing Latin music and salsa. G-FA, -Star and BUMBA will also be on stage, as is comedian Tamako Miyagawa.
The concert starts at 2 p.m. Tickets are ¥1,000 and available at door.
