Cherry-blossom viewing in Chiyoda inner garden (Chikanobu Toyohara)

Naha City Museum of History is having an exhibition focusing on Ukiyoe woodblock prints from the Edo and Meiji periods.

In 1993, a donation of historical items from the Yokoyama family was given to Naha City. The items included some 300 color so called Ukiyoe woodblock prints that are depicting everyday life in the Edo period.

Most of the pictures in the exhibition are portraying beautiful women by Chikanobu Toyohara (1838-1912) from the end of the Era period to the Meiji Period. There are also prints of Kunisada Utagawa who was a prolific popular and financially successful designer of ukiyoe in the 19th century.

The exhibition runs through Mar. 12^th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.. It is closed on Thursdays. The admission is ¥300 for adults, ¥200 for high school and college students, and ¥100 for elementary and middle school students. The Naha City Museum of History is located on the fourth floor of Palette Kumoji building in Naha.
