The engine of a tour bus traveling south on the Okinawa Expressway, Sunday evening, caught fire, and thick smoke started billowing from the rear of the bus.

The driver noticed the smoke, and made a stop at the Nakagusuku rest area, and then lead the passengers out of the bus. After making sure everyone was safe the driver alerted the Nakagusuku Fire Department that dispatched a fire engine to the scene. It took about one hour for the firefighters to put out the fire.

There were a total of 25 passengers and two crew on the bus when the incident happened, and no one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
