Yoshinoya gyudon prices to rise in April due to tax hike
Major gyudon – beef bowl – chain Yoshinoya announced on Tuesday that it would raise the prices of their popular gyudon dishes from Apr. 1 because of the scheduled increase in the Japanese consumption tax from 5% to 8%.
According to Yoshinoya spokesman, the prices will go up between ¥10 and ¥20. The price of a basic bowl of gyudon is now ¥280, but from Apr. 1 it will cost ¥300.
On the other hand, their rival Suki-ya has announced that it will lower their price for a bowl of gyudon from ¥280 to ¥270.
