A wooden house caught fire and a neighbor alerted local fire department in Kina, Yomitan Village, late Saturday afternoon.

According to Kadena Police and Nirai Fire Station, the 60-square-meter house was completely destroyed. Firefighters discovered two bodies in the remains of the house. The bodies were later confirmed to be the 70-year-old man who had lived in the house and his 40-year-old son. Both the father and son lived in the house. Firefighters put out the fire in about two hours.

The scene was 350 meters from Highway 58, in a housing area that has supermarkets and nursery facilities. Kadena police and fire department are continuing the investigation to the cause of the fire.
