Sachio Kuwae took over as Okinawa City Mayor on May 12th.

After receiving a bouquet of flowers and applause from the City Office staff, he headed into his office.

Taking the office, Kuwae said that the highest priorities on his to-do-list is to resolve the problem of children on long waiting lists for kindergarten, to complete the construction of a 10,000-capacity multi-purpose indoor arena, and the expansion of the Okinawa Zoo & Museum.

During his campaign he had promised the residents “the development and better citizen welfare, and I pledge to keep my word.”
