The Meteorological Agency has declared the rainy season started in Okinawa, five days earlier than last year and four days earlier than on average.

Many parts of Okinawa experienced heavy rainfall from Monday morning, and weather forecasts predict much of the same for the rest of the week.

The Golden Week weather has also been cooler than usual with day temperatures in the low 20’s.

The rainy season normally lasts about six weeks.
