Okinawans worst payers into government pension plan
The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare published Monday the latest figures of the percentage of residents paying into government pension plans in Okinawa in 2013.
Compared to previous year, the percentage of those paying has increased 1.9 points to 60.9% of residents. This marks the second year in a row for the percentage to rise, and the first time in five years the share of payers has risen over 60 percent.
Okinawa has traditionally been the prefecture, in which residents pay the least into the pension fund; 41.7% do not pay for one reason or another.
