French Art Exhibition now open at Prefectural Museum

A 20th Century French Art Exhibition from the Yamagata Museum of Art Hattori Collection is now open to the public at the Okinawa Prefectural Museum & Art Museum.

In this exhibition, works from the Yamagata Museum of Art Hattori Collection are on display, including 60 pieces by 58 leading artists in the 20th century such as Georges Rouault, Pablo Picasso, Maurice de Vlaminck, Marc Chagall, Maurice Utrillo, Marie Laurencin, Moise Kisling and others. The museum is open 9 a.m. ~ 6 p.m., but closed on Mondays.

Admission is ¥1,000 for adults, ¥500 for high school and college students, and ¥300 for elementary and junior high school students.  Saturday there will be an entry concert.  The exhibition is on display through August 31st.

After the birth of Impressionism, various types of modern art unfolded in Paris, France. In the beginning of the 20th century, Cubism, Fauvism and Surrealism was born and was considered to be the central area of art.
