With the opening of the new Ishigaki Airport, and more cruise ships making port calls at Ishigaki Port, Karry Kanko Bus company, with head office in Tomigusuku, is scheduling to open a new branch in Ishigaki.

The company has submitted the required paperwork, and is waiting for its business license approval from the Okinawa General Bureau. The company is planning to run 17 direct trips between the airport and the port daily.

On the other hand, local taxi companies are none too happy about the introduction of Karry Kanko Bus to the city, and are staunchly against the plan concerned that opening the bus line will suppress their business.
