Japan Transocean Air (JTA) has begun direct flights from Kumejima to Tokyo from Jul. 18th.

The first direct flight from Tokyo with 129 passengers onboard landed at Kumejima Airport on the same day, and were greeted with a welcome ceremony. A family on tour from Saitama Prefecture said, “We are planning to join a star observation tour. We would like to enjoy Kumejima’s nature with our children.”

Direct flights are scheduled to continue through Aug. 31st with one round trip every day.
