Okinawa worst in alcohol related death toll

Statistics from the first half of the year from January through June show that the number of fatal accidents and injuries related to alcohol consumption was much higher in Okinawa than the national average.

Okinawa Prefectural Police announced Tuesday that there were 21 alcohol related fatal accidents or 33.3% of all fatal accidents within the prefecture making Okinawa the worst in the nation. The national average was 7.5% of all fatal accident. During the same period there were 60 injuries related to alcohol use, which is 2% of all injuries. The national average of those is 0.77%.
