Haebaru Town opens first tourist information center

Haebaru Town has opened a new tourist information center, Oct. 4th near Haebaru Town Museum.  This is the first facility in Haebaru Town aimed exclusive at providing relevant information to tourists visiting the town.

The center sells local specialty products like snacks and traditional woven textiles that are the hallmark of Haebaru, and has a map of local restaurants and a pamphlet introducing each district of the Town.  About 100 products from 14 local producers are on display and sale.

The Town aims to increase the number of tourists to 150,000 per year by 2023.  The Haebaru Town Office selected the location near Haebaru Town Museum because they considered it easier to promote the town tourism from there for the simple reason that the museum gets a lot of visitors from in and outside Okinawa.

The center has 48.5 square meters of floor space, and it’s open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day all year round except during the New Year holidays.
