The Charity of Saving Rai has surpassed the target figure of ¥215 million to pay for a heart transplant in the U.S. to 12-year-old Rai Matsushima from Chatan. The fund administrators announced that the fund had passed the target on October 16^th.

The charity achieved the target in 24 days.  Now Rai is scheduled first to go to Tokyo at the end of November, and then to the U.S. at the beginning of December.  Miyuki Toyama, a joint representative of the Charity of Saving Rai, said, “We really appreciate all the people’s help.”

According to the charity officials, the donations reached about ¥218.13 million as of Oct. 16^th.  The charity officially started the fund-raiser Sep. 23^rd, and collected donations from in and outside of Okinawa.  The charity got a big break on Oct. 15^th, when the ‘Charity of Saving Miyu-chan’ that had supported Miyu Kaname to get a heart transplant in the U.S. in 2011 donated ¥125 million yen from their reserve fund.

Regarding the future of the fund-raiser, the Charity of Saving Rai has stopped activities on streets, but charity live shows that have already been scheduled will go on, and the money raised will go into a reserve account for unforeseen medical expenses in the U.S.
