Fukushima bouncing back with products exhibition
For the first time since a deadly earthquake and tsunami slammed Fukushima Prefecture, recovery progress is sufficient that businesses are conducting the first ever Fukushima Prefecture Products Exhibition & Sale in the Ryubo Department Store in Naha.
The week-long exhibition runs through January 26th. Admission is free, and there are ample opportunities for visitors to purchase a variety of Fukushima goods. The exhibition is open 10 a.m. ~ 8:30 p.m.
Fukushima was at the epicenter of the Great Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami in March 2011. Now, Fukushima is moving forward step-by-step from the disaster. Fukushima is very popular for fresh foods and known especially for its rich seafood, rice and Japanese sake. The exhibition is now under way, with
visitors clamoring to taste the Kitakata Ramen. The popular Kitakata Ramen store Ippei is open in Ryubo 11 a.m. ~ 7 p.m., except for a 3 p.m. closing on the 26th.
Visitors can buy steak bento, deep-fried pork with original source bento and sea food bento. Traditional craft items called Tansu and Japanese Geta, which are slippers made of wood, will catch your eye.
