A fire broke out on the first floor of a three-story apartment in Chuo, Okinawa City Thursday morning.

Eight fire trucks from Okinawa City Fire Station were dispatched to the site. Firefighters extinguished the fire a couple of hours later. The first floor apartment was completely destroyed in the fire.

A 70-year-old man who lived in the apartment suffered burns on his face and both arms. He was taken to a hospital. His injuries are not life threatening.
