Global Culture Festival draws attention to diversity

Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs) living on Okinawa showcase their countries and cultures.

A Global Culture Festival is slated for Saturday afternoon to provide people in Okinawa with a perspective of other cultures present on the island.

Programs on stage include Hawaiian hula, hip hop and salsa as well as game shows.

The 1 p.m. festival at the Urasoe Central Community Center Auditorium on the third floor is free, and open to the public.  The Community Center is located at 1-1-2 Ahacha, Urasoe City, next to the Urasoe City office building.

This event is for anyone interested in foreign countries and cultures, and Assistant Language Teachers who teach English at local schools. Coordinators for International Relations living in Okinawa (CIRs) will introduce their cultures. Organizers say Saturday is the perfect chance to learn more about their countries.  There will be presentations, Hawaiian Hula dance, hip hop and salsa dance ,games and a quiz.

The world cookies and tea tasting time is always popular for visitors.
