The prefectural support center ‘#7001’ for sexual assault victims started operations, Monday.

The center will respond to calls from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.  Female support staff at the center will take phone calls and offer consultation on problems with cooperation of hospitals, police, legal offices and professional counselors in response to requests from victims.

As needed, they will arrange meetings or accompany victims to hospitals.  The location of the center is kept confidential for privacy and security reasons.

The number to call from within the island is ‘#7001’, however, it’s not toll-free.  Another number t call is 098-888-2060.
