Mofu Mofu Festival ready to save animals’ lives
A festival created to raise funds to save animals is mixing music and entertainment Saturday with the good Samaritan elements of an animal protection charity event.
The Mofu Mofu Festival runs from 11 a.m. ~ 7 p.m. Saturday at Nigiwai Square, 2-7-8 Matsuo, Naha City. Admission is free. Shop opening fees and sales at a flea market at the event will be donated to groups that work to rescue abandoned and poor animals. Organizers say they want people think about animals’ lives, and recognize how they can help when in contact with dogs and cats. The event has many booths, each with specialized purposes, such as animal booths, food booths, vendor- and-workshop booths and a flea market booth.
In the animal booth, Naha City Government representatives will hold a seminar for children about the things to think before having pets. NPO One’s Partner will have a dog adoption between 11 a.m. ~4 p.m. Visitors can take a walk with the animals up for adoption, too. For those already having a dog, there will be massages that conocono will do for their pets. There’s also a food booth especially for animals.
Vegan shops for pets will get together and serve good vegetarian food, and they have a flea market at Mofu Mofu. Visitors can bring things they do not need anymore, so they can be sold, and sales proceeds donated to groups that help animals. For goods that do not sell, owners can take them back home.
There will also be sundries shops selling crafts, animal goods and books, clothes, candles and more. Beginning at 5 p.m., Tarch and Orkestar de Viccos is scheduled to perform on stage until 7 p.m. Organizers say the Mofu Mofu Festival will be canceled in the event of rain.
