New Naha Bus Terminal construction to begin

A major urban redevelopment in the area next to Asahibashi Monorail Station in Naha, including the construction of the new Naha Bus Terminal will start soon.

The old Naha Bus Terminal will be closed, and the bus stations will move to several locations in the surrounding areas from Apr. 6th.  According to the plans, the construction continues until March 2018.

Currently, four bus companies operating 52 lines share the terminal.  The current platforms 11 to 14 in the terminal will remain in the same place but the locations where to move the other stations have not been decided yet. Asahibashi Toshi Kaihatsu, the manager of the redevelopment project, is scheduled to officially announce the new locations within this month.

An 11-story building complex, housing the prefectural library, parking space and commercial facilities in addition to the new bus terminal, will replace the current old terminal. The new facility is scheduled to open for business no later than April 2018.

Inquiries about temporary locations of the bus stations are answered at 098-834-9050.
