Nikken Housing Co., Ltd, a local real estate company based in Naha, will start the construction of a shopping center with sports gear stores and restaurants, in Nago City from April.

The company has preliminary contracts with five stores to move into the building, and the aim is to open the shopping center at the end of October this year. The new facility is tentatively named Nago Shopping Center.

The site area is 23,611 square meters with 6,600 square meters of store floor.  SPORTS DEPO, Golf 5 and shoes shop Mift that is managed by a sports equipment retail company, Alpen Group, will be the main stores at the shopping center. In addition, restaurants within the facility are scheduled to open mid December. The shopping center will have parking capacity for 300 vehicles.

A person in charge of the project says that the businesses in the shopping enter expect to hire 230 people, which would contribute to improving the employment situation and revitalizing the northern regions of the island.
