Hula and ukulele take over Tropical Beach
Johnny Ginowan & WALE WALE is a unique local band that plays Hawaiian-style songs besides Okinawan folk songs and their own original tunes.
Johnny Ginowan is often seen on local TV commercials, and WALE WALE is a girl group of Eri Kamiya and Wakako Horikawa. They are active with live performances at various local events and live houses. This Sunday, Johnny Ginowan & WALE WALE plus their friends will get together and make Tropical Beach next to the Okinawa Convention Center in Ginowan into a beach in Hawaii.
The party starts at 1 p.m. and runs five and half hours until 6:30 p.m. Admission to the party is free.
Besides Johnny Ginowan and WALE WALE, a bevy or Hawaii-inspired artists and hula dancers go on stage throughout the day.
This the fourth year for the Ukulele Beach Party sponsored by Johnny Ginowan. It’s also a chance for many ukulele players to get together, and play their favorite instrument in a proper setting, on a beach next to the ocean. It is an event unbeatable to any ukulele fan.
