Police faxes documents to wrong number by mistake
Naha Police announced Thursday that a male assistant police inspector whjo’s in his 40’s, had mistakenly sent by fax two documents containing a disease history of a man who had died of illness, to a household in Urasoe City.
The transmission occurred around 15:00 on Jun. 8th. The documents contained private information of an individual including his name, address and his disease history. The mistake was discovered about 20 minutes after the fax was sent when a woman who had received the papers called.
According to police officials, the assistant inspector had not double-checked the destination after sending the fax. Police went to collect the documents from the household immediately after the incident became known.
