Okinawa Prefectural Police arrested 29-year-old Daigo Asahi Jun. 15th on suspicion of theft. Asahi is a trainee doctor at the medical emergency center at Okinawa Prefectural Chubu Hospital,

According to police, Asahi is suspected of stealing a co-worker’s cash card and withdrawing money three times from an ATM in the hospital. The total amount of the stolen money is about ¥500,000 that was withdrawn from the account between mid May and the end of June in 2014.

The victim, a co-worker of Asahi, noticed the withdrawals from the account, and reported it to police. Investigators fingered Asahi from footage from the security camera at the ATM. Asahi has admitted to the charges.
