Kanna Dam Festival is postponed
Kanna Dam Festival is postponed due to tyhoon Halola. The new date will be announced in the next few days.
The 22nd Kanna Dam Festival aims to provide visitors an opportunity to try their own hand in various tasks from rubber slipper making and woodworking to riding a Segway and paddling a canoe on the dam.
The one-day festival takes place on Sunday, Jul. 26th at Kanna Dam Park that is located in Ginoza (https://goo.gl/maps/xaBQi) The festival runs 10 a.m. ~ 5 p.m. and admission to the festival grounds is free. Some of the hands-on experiences cost a fee from ¥500 to ¥1,000 each to cover the expenses, while there are also free experience=based booths.
Organizers of the festival aim to offer people an opportunity to interact with the forest and pond in order to foster better understanding of the importance of the forest, dams, and rivers. The event offers plenty to enjoy for both children and adults alike.
The III Marine Expeditionary Force Band from Camp Hansen is scheduled to perform at the festival for the first time in three years. There’s also a haarii race at the end of the day starting at 3 p.m.
