As local school children are starting their summer holidays, Makeman Home Center main store on Highway 58 in Gusukuma, Urasoe, is building an amusement park in the store for children to enjoy.

What makes the amusement park unique is that everything in it is made entirely of cardboard. For the park, familiar cardboard boxes transform into a various playthings like UFO slide, merry-go-round, 10-seater rocket style train and rocking horse, and children can play with each one of them.

Another sure-fire favorite will be a large cardboard maze. There’s also a workshop booth where visitors can learn to make items of cardboard without using glue and scissors in the process.

The cardboard amusement park will be open from Aug. 1st through Aug. 30th every day from 10:00 to 18:00 with last admission at 17:30. It’s located on he third floor special event space in the Makeman, Urasoe. The entrance is ¥300 yen in advance, and ¥400 on weekdays and ¥500 on weekends at door. Children age two and younger get in for free.
