Ginowan Police arrested Saturday a 22-year-old painter living in Nagata, Ginowan City, on suspicion of an assault and robbery..

According to Ginowan Police, the robbery took place on a street in Ginowan, about 8 a.m. on Jul. 11. The man is suspected of punching a taxi driver on the face when the driver woke him up in his taxi, as they were approaching his destination address, and then running away without paying the ¥2,800 taxi fare.

The 74-year-old driver of the taxi suffered bruises on his face. The suspect has told police that he does not remember anything about the incident because he was so drunk.
