Naha District Public Prosecutors Office announced that they dropped the case against a 26-year-old Marine Sergeant from Camp Hansen because of insufficient evidence, on Jul. 6th.

The sergeant was suspected of having taken part in a robbery and assault of a 21-year-old Okinawan man that allegedly took place on Kokusai Street in Kumoji, Naha City, on May 24th. The sergeant has denied having had any part in the crime.

The case against 23-year-old Airman First Class stationed on Kadena who is considered to be the main suspect continues to be under investigation. The police investigation files of the case were submitted to the prosecutors on June 25th.
