Torii Beach Caribbean Party one-day event on Saturday

Mother nature does not smile on Torii Beach, as Army Morale, Welfare and Recreation has had to reduce its Caribbean Party into a one-day event taking place this Saturday, as organizers are
canceling Friday because of forecasted bad weather due typhoon Soudelor that is juts now passing Okinawa in south.  Torii MWR says they will still have all of the great food, drinks, entertainment and giveaways originally scheduled for the party.  They remind everyone that taxi and daiko services will be available to get folks home safely.  The event on Saturday begings at 7 p.m. and fireworks will begin at 9:45 p.m.

In spite of everything, nothing’s beats the beach, says Army MWR, and as the sun sets on the horizon, tiki torches and colorful lights will illuminate the beach and even some of the ocean under water.

Plenty of Caribbean dishes and refreshing drinks are on the menu. Reggae and tunes by Beach Boys and Jimmy Buffet set the mood starting 19:00 and the atmosphere gets even thicker with a salsa band Kachimba taking on he stage with hot salsa rhythms.

Fireworks will shoot up in the air on both evenings at 21:45, and then the party really gets going, as top local DJ’s get into action spinning their best and most exciting dance and party tunes for people to dance the night away by the sea and under shining stars all the way to the midnight.

No personal alcoholic beverages, food, glass, pets or canopies are permitted on Torii Beach. Admission is free and is open to the entire community. Don’t drink and drive. Taxis and daiko services are ready to make sure everyone gets home safely.
