Two servicemen nabbed for DUI Saturday morning

Okinawan police nabbed two American servicemen Saturday on suspicion of driving under influence.

According to Okinawa Prefectural Police, 20-year-old Navy sailor Basil Jones, stationed in Sasebo, Nagasaki Prefecture, was stopped at a police checkpoint in Uchidomari, Ginowan City about 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 15th. The police administered a breathalyzer test on the spot that showed he had about 1.5 times the limit of alcohol in his breath. However, Jones insists that he had not drunk any alcohol at all, and is denying the charges.

27-year-old airman Cregg Bailey, stationed on Kadena, was stopped by a police patrol about the same time on the same day on a street in Kumoji, Naha. The breathalyzer showed that he had about two times the legal limit of alcohol in his breath, and he was arrested. Bailey has admitted to the charge.
