Urasoe Police arrested a 41-year-old store worker on Sep. 26, on suspicion of violating the Child Prostitution and Child Pornography Laws.

According to investigators, Rikiya Yamakawa, a resident of Kitamae, Chatan, was arrested after he allegedly paid ¥10,000 in cash for sexual acts at a hotel in Urasoe to a 17-year-old high school girl while knowing she is a minor. The alleged encounter took place on May 30th.

When questioned, Yamakawa has told investigators, “I thought she was an adult.” and has denied the charges.
