Urasoe Police found the body of an elderly man on a street early Tuesday morning after receiving a call from a passerby.

According to Urasoe Police, a passerby called the police emergency number about 4:50 a.m. on Sep. 1st, reporting that, “It looks dangerous for an old man to lie down on the roadside” in Miyagi, Urasoe City. A police patrol dispatched to the site confirmed the man dead. They also noticed a tire-mark on his right arm, leading investigators to suspect the possibility of the man being a victim of a hit-and-run.

The man is believed to be a 67-year-old unemployed man living nearby. Urasoe Police are continuing the investigation into the case.
