A 76-year-old unemployed man from Kuwae, Chatan Town, fell into the ocean Sunday afternoon at Cape Maeda in Onna Village.

According to Ishikawa Police, Toshio Nakamura had been fishing at Cape Maeda with his wife when he fell into the ocean. He is believed to have lost his balance when he was about to catch a fish. A leisure boat that happened be in the area found Nakamura floating face down in the water about 50 meters away from the spot he fell, and picked him up.

He was taken unconscious to a hospital, but efforts to resuscitate him were not successful, and he was confirmed dead after two hours.
