In the final doubles match of the female junior tennis players in the 70th National Sports Festival 2015 in Wakayama Prefecture, Sep. 30th, Lisa-Marie Rioux and Nana Shimoji of Okinawa Shogaku High School beat a pair from Chiba Prefecture 2-1 to win the championship. The win marks the third time in 20 years for players from Okinawa to win the title.

At the same games, Shohei Yabiku of the Nihon University, who originally hails from Okinawa, won the championship in 75kg youth division in Greco-Roman wrestling. This was Yabiku’s second time to win the championship. He won his previous title in the junior 66kg category in the National Sports Festival in 2012.

In addition, the Okinawa team of 4 youth and 3 junior members, won the first place in weight lifting. That was Okinawa team’s fourth win in as many consecutive tournaments.
